# Proposed amendment to `design/tokens.md` — type, casing, and the pill

> **NOT APPLIED.** `design/tokens.md` says changes need an operator round, not a
> commit. This is the round. Look at `type-amendment.html` beside it — that sheet
> renders the left and right of every change.

> *"dot dot--status throughout"* — and four of those five are the approved sheet
> being obeyed, not a mockup improvising.

## Why this is a sheet problem, not a mockup problem

Together those put five of a screen's six type levels between 11px and 15px, and
render every label in capitals. The Dashboard shipped five uppercase blocks; all
five were compliance.

## Evidence

`design/research/manychat-walk/` — the live walk of the operator's own ManyChat
account, which he named as the ergonomics reference. Not model memory.

- `02-automation-list-folders.jpg` — table headers read `Name` / `Runs` / `CTR`:
  **sentence case, grey, ~13px**. Page title ~28/700 over a section heading
  ~24/700 over a row name 15/600. Wide steps.
- `04-flow-published-metrics-view.jpg` — stat labels `Sends` / `Unique Contacts`
  / `Emails` / `Phones`: **sentence case, above the figure**, figure ~24/700.
- `01-home-dashboard.jpg` — a large heading over **one thin grey meta line**, not
  a sentence carrying four clauses.
- Across all 26 frames: **no uppercase anywhere** except two pills, `LIVE` and
  `DRAFT`, both **solid** fills.

⚠ **Stated weakness:** this is one product. The browser could not reach any
other reference this session (host permission refused on `vercel.com`,
`resend.com`, `posthog.com`; `21st.dev` refused after the first load), so no
second source was read. If that is too thin a base, the honest move is to unblock
the browser and widen the evidence before ruling.

## The changes

**1 · Retire the uppercase small-caps label.** Labels become **12px / 500 /
sentence case / `muted`**, no letter-spacing. Applies to field labels, column
headers, chips and meta lines.
*Keeps:* 11px survives for a solid pill's word only.

**2 · Add one size and one weight.** `--cm-fs-2xl: 30px` and weight **700**.
Page titles 30/700; hero figures 30/700. Nothing else may use them.

**3 · Put the levels back to work.** `md` 15px becomes the **row name / list
title** size; `lg` 18px becomes the **section heading** at 650. Both are
near-unused today, which is why screens flatten into 13px.

**4 · Stat tile inverts.** Label **above** the figure, 13/500 sentence case;
figure 30/700. You read what it is, then how much.

**5 · The pill gets two strengths and loses its dot.**
- **Solid** — one per row at most, for a state that must be seen across the room.
- **Quiet** — tinted, for everything else.
- Everything that is neither becomes **a sentence with the status word coloured
  in place**, which still satisfies "status is a word plus a colour".
- **A status dot is not part of the system.** It was never in the sheet; the
  Dashboard added it. It carries nothing the word does not. Writing this down so
  no later author re-adds it.

## What this does NOT touch

Every colour. The 4/8 spacing grid, radii, row padding, card padding, page
padding. Contrast floors. Channel chip colours. The wordmark and serif rules.
Tabular numerals. Elevation, popover and side-panel chrome. The breakpoints.

Only type sizing, weight, casing, and the pill are in question.

Tick to accept. Leave unticked and write underneath to override. On your ruling I
amend `design/tokens.md` and `tokens.css` in one commit, then redraw the
Dashboard against the amended sheet.
